Good grief,,,!!!
All those posts on this topic and no one
simply got to the point!!
God I hate that....
Let’s get to the point;
The media of 3.5" floppy disks physically
changed when they went from 720K/DD to
1.44MB/HD.
If you place a piece of tape over the
"other" hole in the disk, you will be able
to use the 1.44MB disk in the Atari's 720K
Drive.
BUT!!!!!!
DONT be surprised when your data disappears
the next day, week, or month.
The GAUSS energy of the 720K drives write
circuit is insufficient to properly record
the HD media of modern 3.5 disks.
Their are 2 PROPER solutions to the issue.
A) Source a supply or genuine 720K disks as
user CRASH suggested.
B) Upgrade your STE to TOS 2.06 and install
a modern 1.44MB HD 3.5 drive in your ST.
(don’t forget to change the appropriate
jumpers on both the FDD and the STE's
Motherboard)
