Try starting the computer with no disk, or with a blank disk and see if you get to the green Atari GEM desktop. If not, your memory or motherboard may have gone bad. If you get to the desktop, the non-moving parts in the computer may be working properly.
Next, from the desktop - try reading the contents of a regular (non-game) disk. Insert a disk, then double click on the drive icon and see if you can see the files on a disk. If that works, then your floppy drive is at least partially functional; if not, your drive may have failed.
If you still have trouble with the game, it could be the game diskette. Sometimes diskettes go bad, and sometimes the floppy drive will have trouble reading certain diskettes, particularly game disks that are copy protected. If the copy protection check fails, often the computer just stops. Try other games if you have them, or download some freeware games from the Internet and try them from the desktop.
Good luck!
