I agree, sorry.
For myself, I am not realy active in the ATARI scene, but I tried to find such an all-in package to connect my Mega STE or my 520ST on the net. But several problems apears.
As I wanted to do it just for fun and not to work with, I was looking for free softwares only. But I had to find CAB overlay, Sting and others, to different places. To make them working I had to read documentations that were not so clear to me because I am not native english reader.
Softwares are quite big to be stored on one single floppy, so only my Mega STE with an hard disk would have fit.
Software configuration is a problem.
Provider ability could be a problem.
Modem plugged on the 19200 bauds serial is a problem.
Every step you do, you find an other problem.
So I gave up as well. A PC (or a MAC) is so easy to use for web connexion.
On the other hand ATARI solution would be a virus safe solution I suppose. But I got a free virus killer, a free firewall and a free spyware killer, so...
I dreamed to get my 520ST plugged into my car on a little DVD screen and park next to a public phone and surf the web with an old vocal modem you lie the pickup phone on it (such as the model used in the "Wargames" movie).
That would be very funny to surf the web that way, on the street, using a public phone, with old technologies at the age of wifi marketting. wouldn't it ?
