I agree to the fact that Pong is rather outdated. I didn't even play it 15 years ago let alone now.
It isn't all Tramiels fault, since if he hadn't been in charge, we wouldn't have had such wonderful computers, but had someone else been in charge of Atari, the computers might have been more upgrade friendly. When you think of all the quirks and upgrades available my head spins. The PC is easy to upgrade but a very old design down under. Compare a old XT and the newest K7 it's still a Volvo but with a V12 engine....
The difference between Atari and Commodore was that Commodore encouraged programmers, unlike Atari that seemed interested in selling as many machines as possible.
Maybe if they had spent a few bucks on dictionaries looking up the word "marketing" things would have been different....
