Yeah, the 8086 suddenly went straight onto the 286 ( This was a big deal back then - I know! - I had a Victor 286 3 days after the launch ( I had money then! ) )
However, this may be of interest to you, but the 186 as a processor does exist.
Of course, I cannot say whether it was used in a PC, but it has been used in add-on cards in some way... Again, I know this, because I have one such card, and on it, is a 186 processor...
I have given it to Ali, so I will get it back to see what the card does, I know we have not thrown it, purely because its a 186, but I cannot tell you yet what it is?
