You can use a VGA monitor for both color AND Mono... However, the catch is that the VGA monitor must be an OLDER model that supports a 15Khz Horz frequency like an old NEC 3D... a huge list of 200+ monitors that will allow you to do this is at BEST Electronics website.

NO (NO) modern Glass-tube ( CRT ) monitors suport this this is why you must use a interlacer/deinterlacer box to get the STE color picture onto a current CRT based monitor

As strange as this sounds, many of the new flat panel monitors DO---- DO_ support the 15Khz freq!!!!, and it is possible to use a SINGLE flat panel monitor with ALL ST/STEs Falcons etc, given the right cable.
This cable can be purchased from BEST Electronics for about $35...
