No. It won't turn the serial port into an ethernet interface. It's a serial server; it provides a virtual COM-port over ethernet. Data exchanged on the serial interface will be tunneled over ethernet to a host, which basically emulates a COM-port. You can't use it as a generic ethernet interface. You could possibly run PPP or SLIP on it, but you would still need a PC in the other end. In that context it's nothing more than a very expensive serial cable.
