No, Pep is probably right, if oyu are going to use the D2D abilities of CAF then you will find it a great tool.
I myself never did, and never will, but thats how it is.
I like the ability to just play a sample on cue, and this is all I will need it to do, I dont pretend to be any good at writing music, although I am far better than half the tosh in the charts at least, but then so is my cat when she walks across the keyboard.
So the occasional "OH YEAH" is about all I want ( Of course I want more, but Im just being simplistic for now )
And for that, CuBase Audio provides a perfectly adequete playback of such things without the need for D2D.
I also wished that CAF would load and STFU if I dont have the FDI unit plugged in... Thats a real pain in the arse I have to say, and Im just perfectly happy to use CuBase Score.
BREAKOUT BOXES
There are a few different ones... Mine has :-
Optical IN & Optical OUT
COAXIAL IN & COAXIAL OUT
Both are Digital and are a serious pain in the bum.
The only way I can work with them at this time, is to use a VIDEO & AUDIO CABLE so the WHITE PLUG goes to the LEFT OUT on the Mixer to the LEFT-IN on the PC-XFI, the RED goes to the RIGHT OUT of the mixer to the right in on the PC-XFI and the Yellow one usually used for a Composite Video signal now goes from the COAXIAL OUT on the FAlcons FDI box to the Coaxial Digital IN on the PC-XFI and I get the PC to simply Record "WHAT-u-HEAR".
I really wish the FDI unit was simply just analog, or I could find a Digital to analog converter for an honest price... Or hell, if I could get the Falcon to STFU about not having the FDI unit connected, Id happily do without it TBH cos all my samples are 32K anyway
