Shalroth,
1) DML has it working with 4MB machines now, but this version hasn't yet been released. It's a bit stuttery on 4MB because it uses virtual memory that DML has implemented, but it works.
DML thinks he can get real memory down to 6.5MB, which means on 4MB it should run much better.
This was just an alpha version, don't get too upset yet!
2) The reason it uses so much memory was explained as being mainly because it uses two engines. The old BadMood rendering engine has been mated onto the back of the released Doom C source code (i.e. what patrice's doom is based on). Unless someone wants to reimplement all of the Doom stuff into Badmood, that probably can't change, however DML says the gcc compiler also includes some garbage libraries and stuff. Hence his estimate that with a relatively simple cleanup he can get it down to a 6.5MB footprint
3) You can buy a populated, 14MB memory board for the Falcon for 30 euro's from a guy called "Lynxman", who made his own.
Everyone is very happy with the product.
30 euro is for the version containing a SIMM, which needs some falcon mboard shielding modification to fit properly, or 40 euro's for the chip-ram version which needs no Falcon case mods.
