Why does everyone hate the Tramiels? Under Warner management, Atari was doomed, losing millions of dollars a day. When Tramiel came in, he slashed projects to try and stop the company from going bankrupt. He's the reason there was an Atari after the video game market crashed. Maybe he made some bad business decisions, but he really did love Atari (as some people who met him personally said) and he also loved the ST line of machines and was actually upset that they had to stop production on the line. I'm speaking of the eldest Tramiel, the father, of course. I think his sons were a little on the dimwitted side ;-).
Also, I noticed a few errors in some information. The Jaguar chipset is most definitely not designed by Toshiba, it was originally designed by a company called Flare which was originally financed and later purchased by Atari about halfway through the project. The ASIC chips themselves may have been Toshiba's, but they were definitely designed by Atari. And yes, IBM manufactured the Jaguar, but what does that matter? A lot of 2600s weren't even made by Atari. I wouldn't call the Jaguar half-assed. It took 3 years for Nintendo to catch up with the Jaguar's hardware performance.
And I've never heard about Commmodore designing the ST. That sounds a little odd.
