Well flickerfixers are good and are needed.
They run RGB modes on a VGA screen. Very useful for demos as Adam pointed out. Also you can run hicolour in 640x480 (or higher) on a VGA with that (unaccelerated falcon).
I have such a device on the Amiga 2000 at home, and it works very nicely!
So why not use a Nec 3d multisync instead?
Well, for example:
- only 14" (yuck!)
- The interlace is still there in RGB modes looking as bad as ever. The scandoubler (or flicker fixer..) will buffer the lines and show a steady image instead.
There are external scandoublers that you can connect to VGA-monitors, I know that for example Swe/Yescrew uses such a device with hi ST, Falcon and game consoles. If I remember correct the pricing was around 100 eur.
