RAM,

I had a 400 and my mate's dad had an 800.

I can't remember whether these features were specific to the 800, or whether his dad just had more money, but they had (gasp) a floppy drive and the 800 had two cartridge slots under it's flap. They had the device that allowed you to copy cartidges. I think the 800 also had a proper keyboard..?

FWIW, his dad was a computer science teacher at the school where they lived, and had also attached one of those "giant tape devices like you see in films, where the taps hangs down in big loops and usually make bloop-bloop sounds when accessed" to the 800 too. I'm not sure what (if anything) it did, but I seem to remember him shoving some data onto it and sucessfully getting it back once...
