First time it comes on, it asks you for the language. If you choose English, even tho the keys are german (QWERTZ) the mappings are english, so just use the keys you're used to (push 'Z' to get Y - and Z is in the place Y is on a UK keyboard). You can change it in system prefs as well - Atari key + 'S' I think.
