I have a 1050 drive and Atari 800 XL
It is off from 10 years, but I turn on tomorrow !
I remember that I opened my 1050 and I put a switch beetween the two cable that goes to the led of the protection on the right side of the floppy to write on side b of the disk without cut it.
At first the tips function: With switch on write on floppy protect, on switch off do not write.
In some day the 1050 write on disk protect also with switch off.
I removed switch but it write on disk protect.
It is dangerous that is possible erase my old floppy :(
