Hi there - i've just got myself a falcon after many years happily fiddling around with a basic 1MB STE and I feel like i've jumped into the deep end with my new 14MB beast!
I bought the machine with Magic v6.1 and Jinnee installed, but am finding the switch from basic GEM to Jinnee a bit daunting.
Does anyone know of any sites that can answer some FAQ on falcons, or if you guys on the forum can help I'd be really grateful :)
Basically I have a few questions:
1. How can I boot, say, a floppy that would normally boot on my STE? I've tried with a few old disk/games and each time the I see after the Fuji memory test the Magic Loader and the falc seems to be reading the disk, but then Magic/Jinnee boots up - what am i doing wrong? Do I hold CTRL during fuji logo or something?
2. As far as i know the graphics haven't been played with, but i do see some strange things that i don't on my other STs e.g. when the HD driver has initialised, just before Magic loads the whole screen has a green/yellow/brown pattern across it for a few seconds. Also, once the jinnee app begins to load, underneath the desktop area there is a kind of weird brown/black pattern again, plus the busy-bee has a line of green dots below it, almost as if they're along the bottom line of the icon's square. What I'm trying to ask is, is this normal?
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I said, and even if someone just points me in the right direction of a FAQ on getting up and running with a Falcon and maybe helping me understand OS basics on Falcons..
