I just got a Falcon 030 recently, mostly for MIDI sequencing for live music. First I had to repair broken traces on the board to get the machine running, which was scary. Now I've got an 030 with 14 MB of RAM, timing fixes, lots of noise and timing mods- for a very good price.

Kind of a pain that a lot of audio and MIDI apps are a bit heavy on the "copy protection" for some apps I need to use the floppy as a sort of dongle. So it occurs to me as I think about rack-mounting my Falcon, to figure out if I can run with more floppy drives.

I am guessing that it's a pain, as I notice it is typically not done. Can the floppy controller handle a second drive with a proper cable? Another thing I wonder is about external drives. Most "B" drives I see for Ataris seem to be for a port, maybe the modem. Since the Falcon runs HD floppy drives, are there certain externals which are suited to it? I never see mention of what kinds the used ones are, but I guessing usually DD?

Anybody got two (or more) floppy drives on their Falcon, who would tell us how it is done?

Thanks much!
