The original internal floppy drive on my MegaSTe went belly up yesterday (it won't read anything). I did some reading and swapped in an older PC high-density drive and it works great, but I'm left wondering...

I have an earlier-model MegaSTe with TOS 2.05, meaning my machine didn't -ship- with support for HD floppies. However, I do have an 02-02 designation WD-1772 FDC chip and I now have a high-density floppy drive in the machine. Surely I don't really have to do much hardware hacking to tap into the HD support the machine has!

Anyone got a solution? I'm not gutsy enough to follow the homemade 1.44MB floppy drive hacks that are out there as I'm a bit timid about damaging a machine I can't replace. :)

If you need any more info, don't hesitate to shout at me. Thanks!
Derek
