I don`t know about you guys but I always found both Atari and Amiga computers a joy to use. The time when homecomputers ruled the industry is long over but I believe there is still a need similar systems.
The Atari community has dried up of novel ideas. I still hope we see something soon from Milan. Although I believe its Atari-likeness is cool it won`t be a true Atari successor. The Amiga community is still alive and are heavily investing into the development of new Hardware and Software. I also believe by working together with them we can still accomplish things which would else be impossible to implement on ourselves. New PPC machines and motherboards are being worked on. For instance the Ideas2Reality project http://www.suite101.com/article.cfm/1365/59824 by the Phoenix Developer Consortium http://www.phinixi.com
Or the AmigaOne "Zico" boards by Eyetech http://www.eyetech.co.uk/ and http://www.bplan-gmbh.de/ I believe there is no reason why these machines couldn`t run something else like MagiC or why these couldn`t run a NG AtariOS based on for instance a QNX microkernel architecture. Check out the QNX RTP as Phoenix works closely with QSSL to make it suitable for the desktop.
Am I the only one here with such views and opinions?
