hoping Im not too off topic here,

anyone know much about the BeOS operating
system?

This is a fast and solid OS written by some ex-Apple engineers, with seperate versions for Intel x86 and Macs, its meant to be ideal for music and graphics work

As more and more people are running out of patience with bloated MS apps with more security holes than Swiss cheese. Mac OS X seems pretty flakey and a compatibility nightmare according to some. I have had no experience of linux unfortunately.

I am thinking of switching to it, for quick reliable net access and for MP3s.

Sadly its seems it the company in trouble, and they are to be take over by Palm, who will pull the plug the BeOS.

To me, this looks like the next best thing to new Atari style OS.

If it dies from the commercial market place maybe it could be kept alive by users in the same way as the Atari scene??
