A though struck me on the way in to work this morning...

I was in a fierce bidding battle for a Stacy in germany until sunday, it ended at DM701 (about GBP250). There's another one in America, but I can't afford to touch it...it was cost GBP70 just to have it sent over, and the initial bid is $350 (or £450 to buy it now). That's £250 - £350 for an 8MHz 68000 laptop with 4MB RAM, 40MB HDD and a 1-bit screen.

I'm fully aware of the historical importance and desirablility of the Stacy.

To put that into context, I just bought an Apple laptop, a PowerBook 160, which is way more powerful, 68030 33MHz, 8MB RAM and 120MB HDD, 4-bit screen -- for £65! It's a little bit newer, but what's going on? Other computers devaluate, but Ataris go up in value!

Remember that next time you think about throwing out your 520STE...
