I have 2 falcons, CAF, a fad-8, cd recorder. When I bought my second
falcon, it came with a FDI.(Falcon Digital Interface) For some time I've been doing mixdowns of
midi recorded from the synths and audio internally in CAF, and I know
that the best audio quality is probably to be had that way as it
involves no further passing through AD converters. On the other hand,
it would be convienient to do a one time mixdown to another device,
and would let me use external effects devices, ect, with complete
flexability. So I've considered looking for a second hand dat machine
to use with the fdi, but since dedicated CDrecorders are coming down
to comparable prices, I've been wondering if they would be in any way
better than a DAT-FDI setup, or can some of them even be used with an
FDI? Any advice/opinions would be welcome! Thanks!
