Author: 0 (0) Date: -0 I was wondering how the future of the TOS platform is gonna look. I saw the benchmarks at http://aranym.sourceforge.net/ claming that aranym is 96 times as fast as a falcon (average gembench performance) and I was wondering what to think of it. I would like to see a new coldfire-machine, but I see only a economic future for it if it can perform equal or better than the aranym project. I mean: A motorola processor is the best thing; but making a computer that is more expensive and performs les than a standard of the shelf PC with aranym is useless. But still I wonder if a software solution is the way to go... Sure nice to watch divx on an atari clone; but why not watch it in linux without having to start aranym? Stil MS free and unix-like just like mint, but than more developed. I think the way to go is to make a native x86-64 version of (mint-)TOS, including emulation routines to run old software... ...OR to think up something radicaly new (designing your own MC68070 with VHDL in an fpga or something; are there fpga supporting +3GHz?) What do you think?
