Hi,

I've made a centronics to CV/Gate interface for the ST/STE/MSTE/Falcon/TT//Clones (?)
(So far I've only tested it on a Falcon.)

Personally, I think it has much better control and response than any commercial interface I have tried.

GV/Gate is the predecessor to MIDI; it was a monophonic system and used a trigger signal and a control voltage signal.

The control software basically translates the incoming midi messages to a format suitable for a DAC connected to the printer port. The DAC then turns this in to suitable control voltage levels. The voltage range is 0-4V, and it uses 12 bit resolution - some other projects that use 8, but I don't think that is enough. Currently, the software uses hz/V, but this can easily be changed to V/oct if anyone need this. The trigger levels are -9V (key down) and +9V (key up) (This can be reversed if anyone need this). (The trigger levels are actually generated using a MAX202 RS232-TTL transceiver! Cheap and effective)

The software supports most commonly used midi messages; Note ON/Note OFF (including ugly note OFF), Modulation, Pitch bend, Channel pressure and some more.

I added an autobend feature as a bonus; great for creating punchy bass sounds and eye popping leads.

The hardware is fairly easy to build, it uses a serial DAC from Maxim, a 2.5V voltage reference, a MAX202 and some capacitors/resistors.

I don't have a web page (yet), but please feel tree to contact me if you are interested.
