Only two days since I fit my formerly broken assortment of Falcon030 parts into their case, working perfectly! Yesterday I opened the case to replace the wires and connector on the keyboard, which were breaking.
I am already wondering about how to rack-mount this thing! Almost all of the stuff in my studio. and synths that I am building are rack-mounted... and I never have enough table-space. Other considerations are: that I can connect more drives in a rack, that I can enclose extra cables and adaptors, and that my Falcon runs HOT- so I want to give it a better PSU, more circulation, and a better fan. Give my Falcon ten years this way and it'll cook itself to death... then how readily could I find another? What if I decide to get a CT60 later?
I have seen some ready-made racks out there, but I thought they were wack. I will more likely buy an empty 2U ATX chassis and drill it out for board standoffs, ports, etc. Since the Falcon board is 17" wide (as wide as the inside of most cases), I'll need one of those very deep cases with the drives and PSU in front, and the whole back area empty.
Most puzzling thing now is what to do with the keyboard? Hard to make an enclosure for it. Does anybody know if Mega and TT keyboards work with the Falcon?
I would love to hear any suggestions about suitable rack chassis, or experiences with rack-mounted Ataris!
