Well, if I got an ST again, a 1040 STE, then what could I do with it?
well, I would run Deluxe Paint ST.
I would play Turrican.
I would love to get a copy of Substation.
but alas I wonder today about a computer without a hard drive & I remember the headache of a single floppy only system. i did have a dual floppy system for a while and it was very liberating, imagine a dual 720k system! :P
I could live, just about with a dual 1.44 system. a cd-drive would be the handiest thing to have connected because of the ease of cd-r/w.
I used to have a hand scanner & I loved that, though now I have a scanner on my old mac & on my pc.
I loved Replay, borrowed of my brother.
I allways wanted to try vidi st, though my Quadra 840av is pretty cool for taking short video clips.
other faves would be Isola and Chain Reaction.
I have never been one to experiment too far with alternate os's.........
At the moment I am using MagicMac and with what it can do, I am fairly happy.
But running Magic on an ST with just a floppy drive, well a 1.44 would be a nessesaty( I forget how to spell, and in point of fact I have run Magic with a single 720k floppy drive, still not much u can do after u run it :P:D), a dual 1.44 as I said, really, b-cos u need one disk to hold the os, the other to put work on, and here we imagine the usefullness of a cd drive.
I've never run anything more exotic than that and to be honest I like my tos 2.06 single tasking.
All I would have changed in tos/gem, would have been to allow more accessories.
The idea of Magic sac occurs to me, with the fact I already have mac's and this would then allow for networking I am assuming.
I use ethernet to network my to 68k macs, and it is a fairly painless task and even networking ove serial cable is bearable.
It is a little pipe dream that I have to re-own Atari ST.
