hi. i just got my hands on a portfolio. problem is, its completely empty. i cant get any software transferred to it.
i have the serial interface, and just by trial and error i believe i have gotten the correct cabling set up as well.
i tried first with a PC running DOS, and tried FT and FTMENU, neither of which did anything at all. the PF gives me a "communications error" (instantly) and the dos prog just sits there as if waiting to establish a connection.
then i tried on linux, with more success (but not enough ;).
someplace i found docs on using the serial ports, it explained hwo to use stty to set up the port and then copy aux file on the portfolio and cp file /dev/cua1 on linux.
this way, there actually seems to be a transfer. sometimes (depending on the file), both sides sit there for a bit, until eventually the portfolio says 1 file copied. looks good, but the file is only at most a couple hundred bytes long and if i try to tun it, they just crash the portfolio (divide by zero, total halt, the message differs).
i was wondering if this had to do with the ^Z issue. if that is the cause, how can i get around it?
if anyone can help out, please do, cause i would just love to use this little thing as a terminal.
