I'm thinking of building up a small kit to allow a PS2 mouse to connect to a ST. Its not the same as Effile as such. The proposed project will be a small board (about the size of 2 regular stamps) which will plug direct into the mouse port ont he ST. The PS2 mouse will plug into the other end of the board. It will be a small compact design and won't require any case mods or anything.
Note that his is only for the mouse not the keyboard. With the demise in ST mice and the cheap flood of PS2 mice I think the project if worthwhile.
It will take some time to develop, techie_alison has been kind enough to research the programming behind the device and PS2 protocols. I hope to have a few test boards made up over the next few weeks. After that will be a more updated design. I imagine each kit will probably retail for around £15, it will be a plug and play solution.
If there is enough interest in the project then I will consider building a small batch and get the boards made up at the PCB factory. If there is not much interest then I won't go further than the sample boards. If there is interest then great, more people = cheaper prices and a factory manufactured design.
