I am thinking here now.

I am getting back into Midi Music. I have dug out my old Atari stuff, and I am building back up my Hardware, got myself a couple of synths and expanders, only cheap ones mind you, like I said getting back into it after what? 7 or 8 years?

Anyway, I have a Midi adapter for the ST Serial port. Its still workingon the ST, however, I want to use it on the TT. The snag here is that the TT has 9 pin serial ports and this thing is 25

So, will it work through a 9 pin port I wonder?

So, if I use a 25-9 pin adapter, will that do for testing it out? Are there any risks? a quick check reveals that there is a simple pin-pin connection from the serial port to the Midi port, with a small resistor. Age has pretty much removed my chances of working the value out so I will get a multimeter on that to see what it is, or as close as I can anyway.... its looks like 790Ohm, but the colours have faded too much, so thats a guess.

Ok:-
Pin 2 on Serial port goes to pin 2 on Midi through a resistor ( 790? )
Pin 7 goes to the Center Midi lug ( Pin 3 ) directly, and a resistor ( another 790? ) joins pins 3 and 4 together.

There is no markings on the midi connector, so pins 2 & 4 might be backwards? - I need to verify this obviously, but is pin 2 is the same as pin 2 on a 9-25 adapter, and also pin 7 is the very same on a 9 as it is on as 25 pin serial port, then I see no reason why this wont work?

Now, lets just say that I do make up a new Midi adapter to use on the TT Serial port, another set of questions come up here...

1 - The adapter is ok for the ST Serial port of which there is just the one... On the TT there is actually 4... Well, 2 Serial and 2 Modem??? On mine there is anyway ( 2 are on the Motherboard and another 2 are on a blanking plate over the VME cover )

Also, its early days to go trawling through my MROS files, but I know I have a TT version of MROS and also an ST version.

Can I make up 2 of these devices and get 2 or maybe even 3 or 4 Midi outs?

If anyone can offer me some info on this, then please get back to me.
