JTS was supposed to carry on the Atari Brand/Products which I assume were primarily Jagar related at that point. It looks like Atari threw away money.
What did the Tramiel family have to gain by doing this?
I can remember reading many years ago that JTS wanted Atari to become a publicly listed company and that was the only reason.
