Hello everyone,
So I went to New York this week to grab that Hades from David. He's a great guy btw and and I'm very grateful to him for "giving away" this old girl. It was quite the trip - 13 hours up by hitchhiking, and 18 hours back on the bus. I had lots of time to think about how I wanted to hack 'n mod the hell out of this beast. Basically, I want to turn it into a MIDI monster machine. Since I know relatively nothing about the Hades, I have more questions than ideas.
1st things first: This machine is EXTREMELY dirty inside - it needs a bath. Nothing can be done until I wash each board somehow. Some folks on Atari-Forum suggest a water or alcohol bath but the opinion vary so wildly it make me nervous. Any suggestions on cleaning tar/nicotine and dust off a motherboard?
My next question: What MIDI programs will run on this machine? There's no dongle port, so if I could run Cubase, it would have to be cracked. But does Cubase run? If so, are there bugs? If no TOS MIDI program will work, what MiNT MIDI programs are just as good/better? I can't seem to find any except Sweet 16.
I want to mount this in a brand new 19" rack mount case (like a synth module). Then , I want to get a super cool LED light-up keyboard, Atari "Best Trackball" from Best Electronics, SCSI SD Card Reader, Solid State Hard Drive, and a 22" LCD.
Theoretical question: If this Hades was in your hands, what kind of hacks and mods would you do to it?
:-)
