Is it me or do all Atari TTs have fans that sound like an elderly hairdrier??
Ive just quietened mine by changing the two fans for some fans taken out of two 486 PCs, although a lot of the noise is made by the hard disk.
I bought the machine at a dream price, but as it was a very early production machine I
have had to spent a fair pile of cash on it to make it run at its best, I needed a new AJAX floppy drive controller chip and owners manual (from Best Electronics in USA), TOS 3.6 roms (thanks to Fredi from Medusa in Switzerland) replace clock battery, fixing broken mouse port, replace fans and put a nice 1Gb hard disk in.
Still got to persuade the floppy drive (Epson SMD-300) to work in 1.44 mode, hopefully playing with the jumpers will sort that out.
Its a bitch to take apart with 6 different pieces of metal shielding to undo to get at the motherboard
Still only have 2mb of ram, as the board to carry extra memory is missing. :o(
Where can you download Linux for the TT? I am sure I saw somewhere that had it available a little while...
