MEGA ST HDD advice required
I have posted a few queries now regards to this, but I feel that I need a little more assistance. Please keep in mind that I’m about as technically astute as a guppy fish!
I have a MEGA ST2, which I’m attempting to sort out.
A) It was bought cheap and as seen
B) It has a SH205 external 20Meg HDD
C) It is that lovely pizza-box design, which actually suits my requirements.
D) The HDD is either knackered or write protected (I as yet don’t have the software to test this, but I’m having a HD driver sent to me by Fat Rakoon)
i) The drive is partitioned ( c: & d: )
ii) It is an old RDL type drive (we think!) - (certainly not a SCSI)
iii) I can get access to c: & d: drives, but can only save to d: and cannot delete c:
iv) It isn’t a case of easily replacing the existing drive with a SCSI as the cabling is all completely wrong.
E) I want to enhance the unit to use it with CuBase and other MIDI software.
F) As I have limited amounts of space, I’d like to retain the SH205 pizza-box, but fit a new drive. Does anyone know where I can get the necessary adaptors to fit a SCSI drive to this unit, or whether I can get hold of SCSI internals and just rip the existing motherboard out to install the SCSI one directly within the SH205 box?
Anyone familiar with these old drives is welcome to either have the 20Meg drive (if they can assist me to get the 100Meg SCSI drive running, or to fiddle with it to see whether it will ever work again… I’d pay P&P and any time spent on it (reasonable costs!)
FINALLY!!!
I am about to take delivery of a MEGA STe4 with a 540Meg HDD (SCSI) so should I not bother? I’d hate to see this MEGA ST2 die though…
I use the following software and want it all to work.
Cubase v2 & v3
Steinberg Pro 24 III
Akai sampler map
Tiger Sequencer
Magic 4 & 6
Plus a few other bits n’ bobs
Does anyone know how I could add a 2nd SCSI to a MEGA STe4 unit, which adaptor cables to get hold of and where?
