I recently bought an Atari Falcon and I need some help and advice because I am a totally new to this.
It is a Falcon with 14Mb and a 80Mb HD. The HD had lots of programs and it crashed a week after I got it ( had only started the Falcon about 5 times :)), but that was no big loss because I had decided to format the HD anyway.
I pulled the IDE cable from the IDE 2.5" HD (the drive made some heavy noise), and I assume any new or old IDE 2.5" harddrive will work as a replacement ?
What disks and programs shipped with the original Falcon ?
Are they available somewhere for download ?
I would like to connect a CD-ROM, is it possible to connect an IDE CD-ROM to an internal IDE cable (if I replace it with two connectors), or is SCSI the only choice ? Do I need a driver for the SCSI CD-ROM ?
Is it possible to get Ethernet connection in some way ?
How compatible are ST(e) games ? Can it be improved ?
Are the manuals available as text on the net ?
I have an old SCSI harddrive, can I skip the internal IDE harddrive and just use an external SCSI drive and also boot from it ? Can I get power for the external SCSI from the Falcon ?
When I opened the Falcon I think I also saw an internal SCSI connector.
Is that correct ?
/Daniel
