From time to time some company
states they are ging to build a
new TOS machine. I don't see why
anyone would pursue building a
new piece of TOS hardware.
I think the future of the Atari
platform is in emulation. Software
emulation allows a greater degree
of compatibility while maintaining
future expansion capabilities.
The x86 proceessors will keep get-
ting faster. Now a 1.4 GHZ cpu is
$104. That same cpu can run Atari
software under emulation at speeds
that no 680x0 can even come close
to.
It would be great to see a new TOS
machine released. But I think that
doing on a Wintel platform makes a
whole lot more sense.
