More CD fuzz!
Iīm puting together a complete STE setup for
a UK customer, and everything went smooth ītil
I eventually got this bunch of SCSI CD readers,
that Iīve been waiting for. Hooked one up,
installed Extendos PRO, & rebooted.
Extendos found the CDROM directly, installed
as ACSI 6, LUN 0, drive K: and boot process
finished. Good old 2.06 desktop with lotsa icons
shows up, and the opened windows for the drives:
Seagate ST31200N, the 1GB drive to go with the STE,
Maxtor LXT535ST, my drive to install stuff from,
...BUT, when I try to open a window for the CD,
all I get is the busy bee for ca 10 sec. and
so this dialog pops:
"Drive K do not answer,
put in a disk or check the drive"!
OK, tried the other 5 CD drives, same thing!
(They all work good with my MACs & the AMD)
Tried different CD disks, other HDīs, aso...
Hooked up a Conner HD at the CDīs position at
the SCSI ribbon, as ID 6, drive K. Worked OK.
Found that the first STE had the dodgy DMA chip,
so I dug out one with a better chip. Hey, it
booted MUCH quicker, installed the CD drive, but still no answer from the CDROM... :(
ARGH!! Iīve done this soo many times before
with exactly the same Extendos setup. (v 2.4)
-Never failed before! What CAN cause this???
Any ideas, any1?? -Iīm about to.........xxxx
