Been offline for a while. HEY I didnīt expect THIS response:)
Well, this looks promising! Maybe it could be something???

To keep the subject up, I have collected some of
the most entusiastic voices from the scene, so far:
(hope you donīt mind, guys) Iīve tried to answer too...

---------------------

>You still need to FEDERATE (Centralize) the Atari world and "put on the table"
>anyone skills and disponibility to raise up whatever !!!
>I will always claim for this, sorry... Is there any existing group or commercial
>that is still alive and will agree to fit such organisation ???
>What about AI ? anyone here ?
LaTeX

OK, cīmon folks, this guy is right. Weīll need some organizing here.
Though remember that itīs all on a volonteer basis at the start.
We donīt do this in order to get rich, in the beginning anyway...

BUT THIS MIGHT BE THE LAST CHANSE WE WILL EVER GET,
TO SEE A NEW TOS MACHINE NOCK THE OTHERS OUT THE DESERT!!! (...or whatever)

-That almost happened before, so hey, letīs do it right this time?!

---------------------

>I need people like you! i can code, just not come up with the ideas!
>ps. Nice to see my suggestion sparked some interest (UNDERSTATEMENT!)
The Redeemer

Right! Weīre gonna need every coder there is. Thereīs a TOS to be reworked
and preferably written in pure 68K, but first we must decide what hardware
we are going to use? And then thereīs all the new general softwares to be
written. A new machine today, will have all STandard interfaces like USB,
Ethernet, IDE & SCSI, aso aso... That will all need its good software.
(so we both/all need people like eachother, then:) Thanks, lad!

Youīll find SOME neat idea to hack on, downmost in this post... ;-D

---------------------

>My speciality is end user. I know what I like to see in programs and
>believe that I could give constuructive and useful critisism.
Scott

Thatīs the spirit! -Letīs hope all the other users think like U, 2.
And also about the machine itself, not only the programs. -What do we want?

---------------------

>We at TAIO are very interested on helping you:
Facundo

Cool! But please donīt see it as helping ME, we will be helping eachother :)
we will ALL be into this, and Iīm just one of the H/W guys...
Anyway, all this would require someone to organize things and folks,
preferably on a website. I donīt know if my HTMLīing is good enough,
and I probably wouldnīt have much time to keep the site updated, would I?
Besides, English isnīt my native language(oh, youīve noticed?), could be probl.
But I think your site looks great. -Want the job? (some1īs gonna have to)
Of course everybody else involved should help up as much as needed, right?
I have a digital camera & scanner, could do some illustrations, indeed.

----------------------

>This looks like to be a good idea... I have read the post by LaTeX too...
>I am an assembly coder and I think I could give a hand...
>Ideally, such an idea should have its own site, but ATARI.ORG could reserve
>some disk space to host it (why not?) and then all the Atarian resources
>(i.e. anyone who wanna help) would be "centralized"...
>Maybe, it would be convenient to open a new forum topic... ah?
Mill

-Why not? But again, maybe such a big project SHOULD have its own site?
Refer to the discussion above...
Anyway, every available 68K coder will be needed, and I think there should
be one central "codemaster"(?) to keep together the coding party... Interested?

I can volonteer to keep track of the hardware side,
but if someone else rather want to do it, fine by me.

*******************************************************

>Atari builders can we fix it?
>Atari builders yes we can!
Scott

-Yea, letīs hope so. Looks promising so far, eh?
Maybe we should send gates an invitation too? HAHAHA
OK, better not scaring the poor lad up... -YET!! ;-D
(besides, who knows what HE could be able to???)

When the first machines are out, we could
send him an CREAM CAKE with the FUJI on? hehe

*******************************************************

Well folk, what can come out of this, then???
Hereīs some of my own ideas/suggestions/thoughts/questions:

The site should have 3 forums,
Hardware conference, software/coders conference, and "the users voice",
where anyone could come up with ideas & suggestions & questions...
Would it be possible to attach pictures to the posts, would be great.
And 3 separate pages, where we all could present ourselves, and our
skills and disponibility (like LaTeX said) within our genre;
"coders list", "H/Wīers list" & "the users list". Makes sense?

Sponsors! We should all go hunting for them, we could use every nickel.
(even if the site would be filled up with banners, ick!)
Iīll try with Motorola themselves, wouldnīt hurt, would it?
-Weīll be "POWERED BY MOTOROLA" anyway, he he

Someone want to make a contact with Infogrammes/Atari, to hear if we
possibly could have their permission to put the FUJI logo on a new machine?

I have some of the best PCB-CAD programs, but I donīt have the equipment
to make multi-layer PCBīs, anyone who does? (for prototypes)

If we buy all chips directly from Motorola, should keep the price tag down ;)

Maybe we could ask Moto to produce the motherboards, once itīs ready?
-Hey, and maybe we could ask them to help up with the developement?
Professional engineers & the lateST tech, sounds OK, eh?
Would require some cash though -Seems to be the BIGGEST problem...

Then, THINK of every possible way to raise it! Any financial genius out there?
If the money problem solves, then I could make the contact with Moto.

I also have tons of ideas for the machine itself, Iīll present it all
on the site when/if it comes up! -Weīll need an volonteer webmaster, NOW.

*************************************************************************

SO, what happens now?? I know what Iīm gonna do anyway,
Iīll go scan Motoīs site for the latest chips... *Long*Live*ATARI!*

PS
for the coding party:
ATARI always had a proud tradition to go without the isa/pci thingys,
but IF it comes to that for our new machine; WOULD it be possible to
write some kinda "translator", to take the dos drivers that comes with
every device, not only cards, but any device like scanners, CDRW, aso aso,
and translate these drivers into TOS routines? ;-D Then we would have
access to every card and external device in the world, for direct use
in our machine! Without having to write new drivers for any of them, he he.
I think itīs only a matter of sorting the proper commands out of the code?
(We canīt expect HP, SONY & the others to write TOS drivers for their stuff)
-Now, could such a "translator" be done???
I would love to see that function built-into the new TOS. Wonīt you, guys??
(would be a nice trick anyway:)
