The best 8 bit game of all time in my book is Alternate Reality-The City. I played that game for many years. AR eventually had worn out because I played it so much. Never has there been a game that involves character morality and development. There were so many variations for that game (meeting new characters and communicating as well as killing them). It was one of the few games in the 80's that had 1st person point of view. You could also develop your character to it's fullest and bring it to the sequel called The Dungeon. Philip Price, the creator, was a genius. He created one of the best games of all time with his creation of AR. Final Fantasy series on the PC's are pretty good, but they don't compare to the innovative creation of AR. Moreover, AR had one of the best graphics seen on an 8bit system.
Another game that was amazing was Autoduel. Best fighting game definitely goes to World Karate Championship. Best 2 player duo has to go with Archon or Kickstart. Another honorable game was 7 Cities of Gold. I love that game. It taught me some World History. And the concept of conquering the Aztecs, Mayan, and Incas was just phenomenal. Awesome graphics and RPG also goes to Eidolin. Killing the multi headed dragon is so frenetic. I'll pull out some old games and maybe write later about them. I miss that feel of a great game that you spend months and years with. It just goes to show that technology can't create a great game without the person that creates it. Hope you guys experienced the same fun that I did...
