The Heads may be either dirty, or out of line?
If you can put in a blank Floppy, and format it, and then read it back fine, then the heads are out of place ( It happens after a while on the best of them ) and the Floppy will need replacing. ( Its possible to actually move them back, but its bloody fiddly as hell, and rarely works anyway. )
Or, you could try simply chucking a Floppy head cleaner at it to see if that helps?
I know the game disk worked, but thats how it is sometimes!!!
