Last night I disconnected the hard drive and everything worked fine. The falcon would recognise the hd when running ahdi but neither hinstall nor hdx could do anything with it. My best guess is that the hd has given up it's spirit. But I wonder if this could be a controller problem. I don't see why there could be a conflict between the disk drive and a broken hard disk.
