Hello there,
the screen patterns are indeed odd. Is the synchronisation solid or does the screen go simply wild ? If so, the default resolution might be switched to something which your monitor is only very barely able to display - then a running hard- or floppy-disk might interfere enough to lose sync totally.
If it's just solid patterns, then the screen memory is obviously pushed somewhere where other data resided until then.
Not a real problem if all applications behave okay, but odd just the same.
You might want to try booting your Falcon with the CTRL-key pressed. Then it'll load the harddisk-driveer, but should load nothing else. Then switch to a resolution you prefer and see whether your Falcon behaves normal then.
If not you have a hardware problem and seeing that you have a 14MB card i'd suspect the problem there. Memory access is cruical for the VIDEL chip in the Falcon and bad memory access might result in odd patterns on the screen.
About MultiTOS: I don't have the original disks, but it's hardly worth getting them. If you want to really use a MultiTOS, try a newer MiNT-kernel and N.AES or XaAES. They're a lot better than the original MultiAES.
Anyhow, best wishes,
The Paranoid
