There are two differences between
the 2.5" and 3.5" IDE connectors:
The physical size of course, and the fact that
a 2.5" connector has four more pins than the 3.5" one.
Those pins are simply two 5V power supply leads
and two ground leads, since the 2.5" drive has
no separate power connector, like the 3.5".
(a 2.5" IDE drive donīt need 12V)
Else, they are identical.
My Falc have one 2.5" 360MB and
one 3.5" 1.8GB on the same (home-made) cable.
But if you need more disk space I would
recommend a SCSI drive before IDE! My Falc
has three external 2GB SCSI drives hooked up, plus a CDROM, a CD-RW and a SCSI scanner.
SCSI is MUCH faster than IDE, and is required
if you are going to use features like
HD-recording with for example Cubase.
(Pity Cubase donīt work under MagIC tho!!)
Hope this helps.
