atari was a great company. I've spent a lot of time with the vcs, the atari 400/800, atari xl and xe series. the atari st was also a great machine - but it was not a game console.
all these machines were a technical success. but the market have changed and today the production cycles were cut down. in this market a propertary company can not survive and this was the reason why atari (and in future the pc-industry) have not survived.
the only chance to reactivate the glory of atari is to offer the old games - which we all know and love - on all available plattforms and consoles.
the atari homecomputers or video consoles can not compete today against the other companies. but the software titles will bring the atari spirit back again.
