WinSTon and PaCifiST were designed for games, but for anything serious, they are both pretty bad. PaCifiST's keyboard routines are crap. Have you ever tried typing even a small text with it ?

Besides, neither of these can emulate higher res modes. Gemulator and TosBox, with TOS 2.06, can both go up to the PC's high res modes. I use Gemulator with NVDI and the Thing desktop, and a quick Gembench shows it to run at 10 times my Falcon030's speed, and about 4 times the speed of a TT. This is on a K6-2/366.
