obvisiously the Coldfire machine with 170 to 300 MHz will be faster than the emulation.
But much more important is simply, that you've get a machine you switch on and it works.
If you've once got the trouble dealing with DOSes, you can also use any operating system.

This PPC board is nice, but not what I'd like.
Instead of the PCI (and AGP ?) slots everything should be onboard, especially Ethernet, sound and graphics.
TOS should not have to deal with that much PCI stuff. There is also no reason for, if you got what you need.
It's cheaper for the user and better for programmers.
With USB and Firewire you've got technologies that bring you the flexibility with an ease of use you want.
