Well, the initial rumour-specs of the STe said 8-channels. But I guess someone confused bits and channels there..

The STe/MSTe/TT does have one stereo-pair. The two channels can't even play at different addresses at once. Unlike the amiga who's 2 stereo-pairs are able to play independent of each other at (nearly) any frequency up to 33kHz.

Another thing that seems to have confused the (english) press was the TCB tracker that followed with the STe in some software packages. It played four tracks at once (at a miserable quality).

If the press would have tested DBE-tracker back then, I'm sure the STe would be called 32-channel ;-)
