Ok, you're on!
I agree I fucked up on the Blitter, this was a genuinne mistake.
It has been yonks since I used any of the Ataris, and I have recently bought a Falcon, and an Eclipse ( still cant get them to play ) with an ATI Charger card, and I remember the Ataris being so much faster, and judged too quickly on the speed of the Falcon in 640x480x256 instead of the STE in 640x400 and the TT in 640x480x16.
As for the STE DMA SoundChip, I never did pretent it was anything special! - it plays 4 channels, but with a SoundTracker, the same as the ST Chip I suppose. Its a 2 channel ( or one stereo ) chip, and can just about manage the 8 yes, but its still just the bog-standard DMA Chip as in all STE/TTs.
The 68010 is a bog-standard chip too! - some work, some dont, I think the older ones all work fine, but latter ones had some differences. The one I use, is flawless and I have never had any problems with it, but I do have several chips left over and I have thrown the ones that dont work away, so if anyone wants one so I can shut them up, I will happily give you them.
You will get a speed increase yes, but you will have to look VERY CAREFULLY as its NOT the 10% I have read earlier on, more like 5% and even thats a bit optimistic.
The 68038 that I have on my site is a lie... I was just messing about with my mate cos the 038 I think has an FPU built-in, and at the time, we were messing with XenoMorph, whic hlikes to use an FPU, and... Well, I just told him that the 68030 has the FPU built-in and so the chip was just that... Its not!
The TT being 72mhz is genuinne, and I fully intend on putting money on this, as Francis is offering to have a look at my kit.
Now, whether it is exactly 72mhz ( the 75mhz on the site, is wrong, but then the 72 might also be too! ) I am not sure.
Its a CaTTamaran that has been heavily modified, and it is much faster than it was as standard, that I know.
it is NOT me who has modified it, but it came up some time ago when I got in touch with an Amiga overclocker, who was interested in the idea of clocking an Atari, and I showed him the TT and after some time, he said he could do something with it. He started to tell me about getting somethign like 96mhz from it, but then eventually said he was getting 72, and as it was faster than standard, thats what I settled on! - the exact speed I dont know, but why would I argue if I didnt know?
Maybe its 64 then? I dont know?
The 16mhz STE Mod was by me. its a piss-easy mod, and I will dig out the docs that I got from a Floppyshop disk of Hardware mods, so any prick can do the same.
The internal soundchip mods are simply just replay cartridges that I have soldered onto the cartridge ports ( via ribbon cables ) and now the carts are inside rather than outside the cases.
Thats pretty much it - nothing special, so I dont know why people are so het-up on trying to knock me down?
Maybe, just maybe I really do have all this done to my Ataris, and you sad twats are jealous?
Looks like I have my chance of proving it?
I sent you an EMail F.A - Lets get it done!
Any others fancy a trip to Colwyn Bay?
The more the merrier cos I want to be as smug as shit when I show that I am NOT lying.
