>>Well, how many TT specific games are
there?
AHA you see... If you dont know, then you cannot comment can you?
Anyway, I have both of them ( hehe )
No seriously, there is a fair few ( or too few ) a lot of the more recent games will run happily although some say they do not, they bloody well do, also you have a large number of PD games that were not quite written directly for the falcons hardware and will run happily on the TT, and of course there is the Doom/Quake ones too
>>Basically the TT and Falcon are much
less compatible with ST games than an
emulator.
Not quite true - there is Backwards for the Falcon which will let the Falcon play very nearly ALL ST Games, and then there is 24Bit and TTGAME which forces the TT to 24Bit, and thus let the TT play ST Games as well. But in my own experience, I dont bother with the TT Patches as the games I play run happily anyway, unfortunately some games run far too fast, so are utterly useless to play
>>I haven't used a clone, it's true.
Seriously, even the most basic clone, leaves the best Atari standing at the blocks
>>Then again I wonder how many people have used a PC like mine?
Many people I recon, its only a 1.2GHZ isnt it? I myself use an old AMD K6/2 as my internet machine under Win2K, purely because of its stability, and that it works and I cant be arsed to swap it. but I also have a Duron 650 ( O/C to 850 ) for Windows 3.11, I have all K6/2 Processors all in different boards by the way, from a 233 to to a 550, and a K6/3 500 - I have these because they are so cheap. I had a ThunderBird 1.1Ghz, and that was clocked at 1472mhz, but I swapped it for some other bits like Socket7 Boards / CPUs etc. I currently do not have any intel stuff, excapt a P75 that I am setting up Smoothwall with.
Why do I have so many PCs?
Well, I run the local Linux group cluster for a start, which needs loads of computers, but I am mainly using old 386 and 486 PCs with them, and I am going through a faze of upgrading them all to K6 instead.
It currently has the equivalent processing power of a 7.4Ghz single processor system which as you well know, does not yet exist.
But then, thats Linux for you.
XP beyond 98?
Maybe so, but not from what I know, and not from what a lot of people say either! - I put XP onto my fathers PC a while ago, an I have to admit, it was nice, but it looks very cartoonish to me. Some say its solid, some say its rotten, its just another MS O/S that needs to be ironed out, but I am glad you like it, thats what is important, NOT what others say.
>>I'd like to see an emulator that went to
the next level. Gemulator can emulate the
030 at blazing speed. Graphics and sound
are fairly weak on it though (for games).
Magicmac has very nice graphics, but I've
heard it is less than stable. Steem is
great for original ST(e)games.
Yes, I agree, and so will many other now.
I have used the TT's ROMS in my GEM Card, and it was very nice, and yes, its was very fast.
I cannot comment on MagicMac, but Magic under GEMulator is a little bit crap I will be honest. I cannopt get anything other than standard ST screens running, and under Win2000, I cannot get it to save anyting if I use Windows FileSystem, and if I use Virtual Drives, I cannot access Floppies, so its a bit naff.
It's very similar to your situation...
Milan for this, TT for that...
Yes.
I have to admit I have enjoyed this arguement. I think it IS an arguement, you have certainly pointed out a few things that I know, but dont want to admit, its all in the fun of it I suppose?
I still stick to the original idea though that the whole plan of new hardware needs to go through the most important change of all, and that is the stupid price of anything, and in this day and age, some better tools and utilities for connecting to the internet must be sought out, because its not exactly the easiest system to connect is it?
