1. Correct, the Falcon boots in 16MHz. It is possible to halfclock it into 8MHz as well. The only useable thing for that is to come closer to ST-speed. I recomend a program called "Backward" for that, it can also add several patches and gimmicks to make more ST games running.

2. There is a bit to set (in the the psg I seem to recall) to toggle the speaker on/off. However I recomend removing the cable instead. You only need to open the cover and pull up the lead from the motherboard and it's silent for good.
