I don't know about hardware, but as far as software is concerned, the future of application availability for Atari may be an integrated X11 server for Gem, such as already exist:

That way, any (theorically) Unix/Linux application could be adapted to Gem. You'd then have Mozilla/Netscape6, and so much more...!

I still stick to the original idea though that the whole plan of new hardware needs to go through the most important change of all, and that is the stupid price of anything, and in this day and age, some better tools and utilities for connecting to the internet must be sought out, because its not exactly the easiest system to connect is it?
