It does sound that way, do you have another HD you can try?

If you get an adaptor you should be able to use a 3.5" drive too. I made one for about £6 which works fine.

I may have a 40Mb 2.5" you could try if you want to pay for postage. If not go to E-Bay or Logical Reclaims, I just got a 6.8Gb 2.5" for £25.
